#DOGLIFE HACKS

The bathtime blues

Have a dog that hates the bathtub? Runs from the hose or hides from the shower? Try these quick hacks to help your pup stay calm and cool during bath time.

1. Safety first! Using a rubber bath mat for them to stand on ensures they feel more steady and don't slip on the slick surface.

2. A lickmat keeps your dog busy while calming them. Pro tip: put some peanut butter on it and stick it in the tub or tile for extra-long-lasting goodness. Pro-pro tip: Be sure to look for the ones that suction to the wall/floors so it stays put on the tile.

3. Start by wetting the chest, avoiding the feet and head initially - those are sensitive areas.

4. Avoid getting the ears wet, use a damp cloth to wash/wipe down ears.

5. If blow drying, cover their  sensitive ears by wrapping a towel around their head.

Et voilà! You have successfully eased those bathtime blues.

Sniff out the hidden red flags of dog training
Part☝️

As we know from humans - sometimes red flags disguise themselves as green flags. That is... until one day you wake up and realize the flag in your face is the size of Kansas and three shades brighter than that of the Kansas City Chiefs (P.S. Huge congrats to Taylor Swift on her Superbowl win!) Unfortunately, this is also the case when it comes to dog training. From Board and Train (a.k.a., Doggy Boot Camp), to guarantees and "certified" trainers - these flags will have you seeing red.

Wonder Dogg-O' the Month

Trixie's a treat

Like most of us, Trixie didn't like to be alone, but like she really really didn't like it. Her humans, Regan and Jesse were at a loss. They couldn't leave her home alone. After a few meetings with C.C. (a Certified Separation Anxiety Trainer or CSAT), she recognized Trixie was in hidden physical pain. Working with a CSAT like C.C. (say that 5x fast!) helps to identify issues you may not see yourself. By identifying the underlying health issue, which was causing extra stress during her alone time, they were able to pinpoint a trigger that was causing Trixie anxiety and lessen the overall length of time it took to resolve the separation anxiety.

"Miss Trixie & her people were incredible to work with. They cared so deeply for her recovery & made the very most of our time together & the materials provided. Together, we discovered so much about Trixie. It was sheer joy seeing her succeed at alone time." -- The WDU Team
