Training Coordinator

Wonder Dog University is searching for a Training Coordinator!

The Role
This is a part time administrative role and a good fit for someone interested in flexible hours, working remotely, increasing their experience and knowledge in customer service or taking their current skills in this arena to the next level.

Our Training Coordinator is the initial point of contact for client training inquiries via email and phone as well as the point of contact for many current clients. The position can remain as described below, however, Wonder Dog University is open to expanding the role should a candidate bring other useful operations talents to the team and wish to grow in their role.

WORK HOURS 
This is an ongoing part time position. Hours are dependent upon the number of client inquiries we receive via email and phone. Estimated hours per week, based on the historic need, is currently 5-8 hours. We cannot guarantee the amount of hours you will work. Again, Wonder Dog University is open to expanding the role should a candidate desire this and brings other useful operations talents to the team.

JOB DESCRIPTION & EXPECTATIONS

Professional Conduct

  1. Adhere to all confidentiality terms of the agreements as they pertain to Wonder Dog University’s business practices and proprietary knowledge..
  2. Professionally and efficiently communicate with team members, business partners and clients at all times.
  3. Commit to diligent study of and ability to use:
    • All Training Coordinator Workflow and Service Materials shared by Wonder Dog University to perform the work competently.
    • Our Acuity Scheduling application.
  4. Proactively ask questions about any materials, talking points and best practices that are unclear, so we may coach you and best serve clients.
  5. Arrive prepared for scheduled team meetings ready to ask questions, receive coaching on materials, talking points and best practices and contribute to growth and development.

Logistics

  1. Reply to all client phone or email inquiries within twelve (12) hours maximum.
  2. Reply to all team email or text communications related to the training coordinator role within a reasonable amount of time - within six (6) hours if not urgent.
  3. Utilize Google Drive for Workflow duties and the scheduling app (Acuity) to assist in scheduling, if and when needed.
  4. Track all work time electronically via your app of choice and submit invoices for bi-weekly payment.

RATE OF PAY
This is dependent upon the candidate’s experience, ability, skill set and the  coaching effort required of the candidate by Wonder Dog University upon hire. Range possible is $12-15/hour. Most initial phone and email replies take 5-20 minutes each. Possibility for increase in pay is concurrent with proven ability and growth in role.

EXPERIENCE & SKILLS

  1. Experience with phone and email customer service and support.
  2. Experience personally or professionally with online technology. Candidates with the following qualifications are preferred, but not required:
    1. Google Drive (Google Docs and Gmail)
    2. Acuity Scheduling app.
  3. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  4. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
  5. Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
  6. Comfortable communicating with people of all backgrounds and ages.
  7. Reliable internet connection, laptop or PC and cell service.
  8. Comfortable with using or learning the Acuity Scheduling app and  Google Drive for study of, and familiarity with, customer service email and phone support resources to fully support potential clients and current clients with questions about our training services, scheduling and logistics.
  9. Availability to review those materials with the Wonder Dog University team prior to actively taking over the role.

PREFERRED ONBOARDING TIMELINE
Training Coordinator will have a three (3) week onboarding period in which they will be fully familiarized with all processes and resources before the Training Coordinator role is turned over to them to run independently. The Wonder Dog University team is always available to support this role for any needs or issues which arise.

ONBOARDING PROCESS
This is an independent contractor role. As such, all onboarding and needed study is completed independently within the outlined timelines of the role.

The timeline for this process will vary, depending upon the candidates prior experience and current ability and is estimated to take three (3) weeks. Hire will be paid for their time during onboarding. Onboarding is completed in two ways:

Remotely Via Hire’s Computer and Phone.

Week 1

  • Independent Contractor agreements are provided and completed.
  • Access to Google Drive is granted to study customer service  materials and become knowledgeable about Wonder Dog University’s practices, talking points and service options.
  • Zoom video meetings are conducted to review materials and standards with the team.
      • The Training Coordinator is given access to review former replies to email inquiries and sample audio recordings of client inquiry phone calls are also available for learning and reference.

 Week 2

      • The Training Coordinator begins creating draft email replies, which are submitted to specific team members for review before being sent to clients.
      • The Training Coordinator begins replying to client inquiry voicemails and records their return phone calls for specific team members to review and the coaching opportunity.

Week 3

      • The Training Coordinator begins independently replying to email and phone inquiries with shadow coaching from team members.

 

Group Class Assistant

Wonder Dog University is searching for a Group Class Training Assistant!

The Role
The role is part time and a good fit for someone interested in increasing their personal experience and knowledge in companion dog training or taking their current dog training skills to the next level.

Our Group Class Assistant makes the class experience seamless and productive for students both logistically and via supporting the learning experience, coaching students with the class trainer. Wonder Dog University is open to expanding this role over time should the person hired show exemplary training skills and wish to take on other training opportunities.

Hours are dependent upon group class schedules and registrations adequate to hold classes. Estimated hours per week is currently 5-10 hours. We cannot guarantee the amount of hours you will work. Work is dependent upon class registration and class limits being filled to hold individual classes.

JOB DESCRIPTION & EXPECTATIONS

  5. Arrive prepared to coaching meetings to ask questions and receive coaching on materials, training skills and assisting practices.
  6. Proactively ask questions about any materials, training skills and assisting practices that are unclear, so we may best coach and prepare you and serve our clients.
  7. Adhere to the Wonder Dog University training standards and protocols.

Class Assisting

  • Classroom Set Up - Arrive at class location(s) fifteen (15) to thirty (30) minutes prior to start of class, per specific class needs and schedule, to set up the training room equipment.
  • Assist the Class Trainer - Use knowledge of the class materials and lessons to actively coach students on their training with their dog during class.
  • Classroom Break Down - After class, break down and clean training equipment, clean the training room floors and (if applicable) place the business partner’s items back into place for their next day of business. This usually takes 30 minutes.

RATE OF PAY
This is dependent upon the  experience, ability, skill set and dog training coaching effort required of candidate by Wonder Dog University upon hire. Range possible is $12-15/hour. Possibility for increase in pay is concurrent with growth in ability and role.

  6. Reliable laptop or PC, internet connection, cell service and transportation.
  7. Comfortable with using Google Drive for study of and familiarity with class materials to fully assist class teachers in class curriculums.
  8. Available to dedicate study time to class materials in order to fully support class teachers in all skills demonstrations and coaching students in classes.
  9. Availability to review class materials with class trainers prior to actively assisting in group classes.

In-Person Review and Coaching with Trainer

  • Review with trainers the class materials and training standards.
  • Observe classes.
  • Begin assisting group training classes.

CURRENT CLASS SCHEDULE
Classes are held during most weeks of the year with breaks of 1-2 weeks between classes and no classes are held during holidays. The current class schedule as of July 2021 is as follows:

At K9 Resorts in Mount Pleasant

  • Assistant 7:15 to 9:00pm
    • Monday - class from 7:30-8:30pm.
    • Wednesday - class from 7:30-8:30pm.
    • Thursday - class from 7:30-8:30pm.

At Charleston Harbor Vet Clinic in downtown Charleston

  • Assistant 9am to 12:30pm.
    • Saturday - 2 Classes from 9:30-10:30am and 11-12pm
